2025 5-Star Safety from Florida places Texas A&M in his initial Top 13 program list

Texas A&M has its sights set on 2025 five-star safety DJ Pickett, who recently placed the Aggies in his first Top 13 program list.

Texas A&M’s 2024 recruiting class will continue to grow throughout the fall, including four-star OL Isendra “Papa” Ahfua, who is favored to land with the Aggies ahead of his commitment announcement on Saturday, Aug. 12. Shifting the focus to the talented 2025 cycle, five-star safety DJ Pickett, yet another highly athletic and versatile defensive prospect has released his first Top 13 program list this week.

With nearly every major program all in on Pickett’s recruitment, Texas A&M joins Florida, Florida State, Michigan, Ohio State, Georgia, Texas, LSU, South Carolina, Oregon, Penn State, Alabama, and Miami in his initial list that will surely start to trim down as soon as next summer.

According to 247Sports Composite, Pickett is currently positioned as the 8th-ranked player in the 2025 class, the No.1-ranked safety, and the 2nd-ranked player in Florida.

Pickett is set to enter his junior season at Zephyrhills (FL), where during his 2022 sophomore campaign, Pickett performed at both safety and wide receiver on offense due to his speed and soft hands at the catch point, recording 39 tackles, three pass breakups, and four interception, while grabbing 43 receptions for 886 yards and 12 touchdowns on the year.

Standing at 6-2 and just over 170 pounds, Pickett’s experience at wide receiver will continue to aid his development as a free safety position due to his natural twitchiness, speed, notable vision, and anticipation in deep coverage.
