2024 5-star EDGE will be in attendance for Las Vegas Bowl

He might be a Florida legacy, but the Gators must work hard to bring 2024 five-star edge rusher Elijah Rushing home to the Swamp.

The Florida Gators are in Las Vegas preparing for its bowl game against Oregon State, but recruiting season never stops in the college football world. Five-star Salpointe Catholic (Tucson, Arizona) edge rusher [autotag]Elijah Rushing[/autotag] is expected to be in town to watch the big game, according to 247Sports.

Rushing is the brother of preferred walk on [autotag]Cruz Rushing[/autotag] and the son of former Gators tight end George Rushing. His ties to the university are well-documented, but Rushing is far from a lock on Florida’s 2024 recruiting board. He’s narrowed things down to a top 12, including Arizona, Georgia, Miami, Michigan, Michigan State, Notre Dame, Oregon, Tennessee, UCLA, USC and Washington.

Billy Napier and Co. have prioritized Rushing for most of the year and got him on campus over the weekend of the LSU game (Oct. 15). This weekend will give him a chance to reevaluate Florida after several roster changes cleared up which position groups are in line to see an injection of youth over the next few years. As a top recruit in the class, Rushing is looking for immediate playing time and a path to the NFL.

Rushing is the No. 16 overall on the 247Sports composite and No. 2 among edge rushers in the class of 2024. The site’s individual rankings have him even higher at No. 10 nationally and No. 1 at his position.
