2024 5-Star Cornerback has placed Texas A&M in his Top 5 program list

Texas A&M has made the the final list for standout 2024 5-star cornerback Kobe Black, who has yet to announced a commitment date

Texas A&M’s 2024 recruiting class is already filled with talent at nearly every position, and while plenty of uncommitted prospects remain in the cycle, Jimbo Fisher and his staff have yet to land a cornerback amid their 18 verbal commits. Still, good news concerning one of the class’s most talented defensive back prospects could be on the horizon.

This week, 2024, five-star cornerback Kobe Black who has been on the Aggies’ radar since offering him in April of 2022, has released his final Top 5 program list, including Baylor, LSU, Ohio State, Texas, and Texas A&M.

Since receiving his offer, Black has taken five unofficial visits to College Station, with his most recent trek during the Aggies’ annual recruiting pool party on July 29. According to 247Sports Composite, Black is currently positioned as the 24th-ranked in the class, the 3rd-ranked cornerback prospect, and the 6th-ranked player in Texas.

Standing at 6-0, and 190 lbs, Black is considered the “prototypical” defensive back from a size perspective, in addition to his speed, athleticism, and versatility in the backfield. A two-way player at Connally High School in Waco, Texas, Black performed at cornerback, running back, and wide receiver during his 2022 junior season, accumulating the following stat line:

  • CB: 36 tackles, two tackles for loss, nine pass deflections, two interceptions, both returned for touchdowns.
  • RB: 34 rushing attempts, 337 rushing yards, six rushing touchdowns.
  • WR: 19 receptions, 305 receiving yards, five receiving touchdowns.

Texas A&M has remained in a heated battle with Texas regarding several 2024 prospects. After the Longhorns landed the coveted five-star Edge Colin Simmons on Thursday, Kobe Black’s impending decision could decide who will reign supreme in the state of Texas, at least from a recruiting standpoint.
