Notre Dame-Duke: Reaction to Sam Hartman’s incredible run

A run for the ages!!!

Notre Dame was dead to rites Saturday night.

After a 4-0 start the Irish were seconds away from falling for the second week in a row.

Forget College Football Playoff dreams, the New Year’s Six was one play away from being taken out of the picture.

4th and 16 at the Duke 47-yard line with just 51 seconds to play and Sam Hartman delivered a run that will go down in Fighting Irish history.

To me it wasn’t the same stage obviously, but it brought back memories of John Elway in Super Bowl 32.

Hartman made it 17-yards and kept the Irish alive.  Here is how the college football world reacted to the incredible run below.

Social media reacts to the Oklahoma Sooners 50-20 win over Iowa State

After it was close through the first quarter and a half, the Oklahoma Sooners went on to dominate Iowa State 50-20 and here’s how Social Media Reacted.

It was a tight ball game into the second quarter, but after Iowa State cut Oklahoma’s lead to one, it was all Sooners from there on out.

When it was 21-20, it began to feel like all of the Sooners-Cyclones matchups during the Lincoln Riley-Matt Campbell era, but then Oklahoma realized that this team is built different. The Sooners went on to score 29 unanswered points, creating the largest margin of victory in the matchup since a 52-16 win in 2015. That was the year before Campell arrived in Ames.

Dillon Gabriel had another great game, accounting for more than 400 combined passing and rushing yards and five total touchdowns. It was a fantastic performance to help get Oklahoma to 5-0 and set up an undefeated Red River Rivalry game in the Cotton Bowl.

Though there are still things to work on heading into the big-time showdown, the Sooners are heading in the right direction.

Here’s how social media reacted to the win.

Anthony Herron rides the Ferris wheel at the Rutgers football ‘Boardwalk’

Rutgers football’s ‘Boardwalk’ scene was taken in big Big Ten Network analyst Anthony Herron.

PISCATAWAY, N.J. — Count Anthony Herron as a big fan of the ‘Boardwalk’ scene prior to Rutgers football games. The Big Ten Network analyst even took an idyllic ride on one of the rides.

Herron is a former Iowa defensive end who played in the NFL for the Detroit Lions, Green Bay Packers, Pittsburgh Steelers and San Francisco 49ers. He now serves as an analyst for the Big Ten Network and also appears in-studio regularly to break down the conference.

He was part of Saturday’s broadcast crew that included Lisa Boyington and Meghan McKeown Wallace.

The ‘Boardwalk’ is part of the Rutgers pregame pageantry that features rides and carnival games. It is the drop-off point for the team when they arrive from their hotel and take busses to SHI Stadium.

The players and coaching staff arrive at the apex of a pre-game pep rally hosted by Dom Savino. The pep rally features the spirit squads and the marching band.

The players then proceed to go down the Scarlet Walk and head into their locker rooms.

The aforementioned McKeown also works for the Big Ten Network as a women’s basketball analyst.

Rutgers track and field adds Madsion Stevens

Rutgers track and field adds another solid recruit.

For Rutgers field and track, the future got a little brighter on Thursday. Madison Stevens announced that she had committed to Rutger on social media. She will bring an impressive resume to Piscataway and provide a boost to the track and field program.

The New York native is one the best in the state as she took second place in the girl’s shot put at the New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association’s track and field Meet. It marked the second straight year that she finished second in the event. Stevens also took sixth place in the championship finals of the girl’s shot put at the Nike Indoor Nationals in May.

As Stevens prepares for the next step of her career, excitement is building for what she will accomplish at Piscataway. During her high school career, the Columbia High School product regularly finished in the top ten of major events.

Additionally, she is joining a program with his expectations. However, it is a situation she is ready for, and she did not hide her excitement on social media.

In a post on her Twitter account, Stevens said, ” I am excited to announce that I have committed to Rutgers to further my academic Track & Field career. Thank you for the great opportunity, Coach Cocci and Coach Farrell. Thank you to my parents, coaches, family, and friends for being the best support system.”

Saints rookie guard Nick Saldiveri set to make his NFL debut against Bucs

Another rookie draft pick is set to make his New Orleans Saints debut. Look for Nick Saldiveri to be active on Sunday against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers now that right guard Cesar Ruiz has been ruled out for a concussion. Saldiveri was the team’s first pick in the fourth round out of Old Dominion, where he played right tackle. He’s spent most of his time at left guard with New Orleans.

But hold your horses: Saldiveri likely won’t feature in the starting lineup with James Hurst taking Ruiz’s place at right guard and Andrus Peat filling in on the left side. Saldiveri has been inactive for each of the team’s first three games while veteran teammates like Peat, Max Garcia, and Landon Young were activated to wait their turn as backups.

The Saints had a couple of offensive linemen on the practice squad in Tommy Kraemer and Mark Evans II (who was recently re-signed) but neither of them were elevated for Week 4’s game-day roster, which suggests Saldiveri will be the eighth lineman to dress on Sunday.

Still, let’s hope he makes the most of his opportunities whenever he does get to go into the game. The Saints’ rookie draft class hasn’t made a huge impact this season beyond first-round defensive tackle Bryan Bresee; specialists Lou Hedley and Blake Grupe haven’t been as consistent as hoped through the first month, and other draft picks like defensive end Isaiah Foskey, running back Kendre Miller, and wide receiver A.T. Perry have all been inactive at times. Getting something out of Saldiveri would do a lot to improve their standing as a group.
