2023 NFL draft: Chargers pick WR Derius Davis with No. 125 overall selection

The Chargers got their return man.

The Chargers have taken former TCU wide receiver Derius Davis with the No. 125 overall selection in the 2023 NFL draft.

Davis has had success as a returner on special teams, an area Los Angeles needed to address for the upcoming season. Over his five-year career at TCU, he averaged 22.0 yards per kick return and 15.0 yards per punt return with five total touchdowns.

For his efforts, Davis was named the 2022 Big 12 Special Teams Player of the Year.

Davis is coming off his most productive season as a receiver as well. The 5-foot-9, 165-pounder recorded bests in receptions (42), receiving yards (531) and scores (five).

Davis and first-round selection Quentin Johnston stay together after playing for the Horned Frogs for the past three seasons.
