Prior to the 2020 college football season, one name that wasn’t talked about enough as an NFL draft prospect was Joseph Ossai. During August and September, draft talk focused more on Samuel Cosmi and safety Caden Sterns. Sterns’ momentum cooled as the season went on; Cosmi and Ossai heated up.
When you look at Ossai, he is a prototypical weak side defensive end that’s likely best suited for the 3-4 outside linebacker. However, he has the traits to also put his hand in the dirt in the 4-3 scheme. A player who can play in multiple schemes will boost his profile for teams. Given how some organizations like to be multiple in their defensive fronts, his ability to adjust is going to serve him well.
Ossai is a high effort and high motor guy who never gives up on a play. Where he ends up at the next level, Ossai will help them immensely. Here are a few spots that Ossai could potentially land.
