Waste Management Phoenix Open: Round 3 tee times, TV information

Here’s everything you need to know for the PGA Tour’s stop in Arizona at the Waste Management Phoenix Open.

The 2020 Waste Management Phoenix Open heads to the weekend at TPC Scottsdale.

Don’t expect the par-3 16th hole to get any quieter as the tournament continues. That’s just fine with Billy Horschel, who embraces that kind of atmosphere. Wyndham Clark understands it at least, having spent time there as a fan just last year.

Those men are among the names trailing leader J.B. Holmes, who has already won this event twice before. Holmes stands at 13 under after 36 holes.

Felice Herrig details fight with drunk woman on Las Vegas Strip after UFC 246

All this happened because of … a penny?

LAS VEGAS – On the night of UFC 246, [autotag]Felice Herrig[/autotag] was strolling down the Las Vegas strip after watching Conor McGregor’s win over Donald Cerrone when, as tends to happen in “Sin City,” she encountered an unruly drunk woman.

Herrig, who’s been in Las Vegas for two weeks rehabbing her surgically repaired knee at the UFC Performance Institute, posted on Instagram about allegedly being punched in the face shortly after it happened. She explained in further detail what transpired during an interview with MMA Junkie.

“Yeah, that was really weird,” Herrig said. “That was the start of my Vegas journey, and it wasn’t my fault. I feel like people in Vegas are crazy. …

“She stopped traffic to pick up a penny! Literally a penny. And I called her out on it.”

Even though she made a remark, Herrig said she continued walking along with her friend.

“Three minutes later, there’s somebody behind me saying, like, ‘The penny was on heads!'” Herrig said. “And I’m like, ‘I do not give a sh*t.'”

[vertical-gallery id=404263]

Herrig didn’t know what else to say at that moment. She didn’t want to get in a fight given that she’s a UFC fighter but also conscious that she could risk ruining her recovery from a torn ACL suffered last April.

Herrig said the woman was persistent, though, getting in her face and asking, “What are you gonna do about it?”

“And I’m like, ‘I’m not gonna do anything about it unless you do something about it first,'” Herrig said. “If you punch me, I will defend myself. And she punched me. And I had to defend myself, so I punched her back really hard.”

A brief scuffle ensued, and the woman ran away, according to Herrig. And that was the end of that. Herrig was left with a bloody nose, she said, after the woman head-butted her during the scuffle.

You can hear Herrig discuss the incident in detail with MMA Junkie Radio’s “Gorgeous” George in the video above. For the full interview, check below.

Texans add two new coaches to 2020 staff

The Houston Texans have added two new coaches to the staff in DeNarius McGhee and Deon Broomfield.

The Houston Texans continue to make additions to their 2020 coaching staff.

According to Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle, the Texans have added former Montana State running backs coach DeNarius McGhee as an offensive quality control coach.

The Texans also filled a void left when secondary coach Anthony Midget took the same job with the Tennessee Titans and the Texans simply promoted assistant secondary coach D’Anton Lynn to replace Midget. Houston hired former Indiana State cornerbacks coach Deon Broomfield as a defensive assistant.

The Texans have not yet announced their final coaching staff. Last year, the club did not announce their final changes to the coaching staff and front office until Feb. 5, the Tuesday after Super Bowl LIII between the New England Patriots and Los Angeles Rams.

Eagles assistant coach G.J. Kinne hired as Hawaii’s new offensive coordinator

G.J. Kinne named offensive coordinator at Hawaii

The Philadelphia Eagles are set to lose another offensive assistant coach, as former quarterback turned assistant coach G.J. Kinne is set to become the offensive coordinator at the University of Hawaii the school announced.

Kinne had been in the role of offensive special projects for the Eagles but set to reunite with his former college coach at Tulsa, Todd Graham.

Kinne joined the Eagles’ coaching staff last offseason after spending one year as an offensive analyst for Arkansas in 2018 and a graduate assistant for SMU in 2017.

February 1st will be a day for the ages in the world of San Diego State Aztecs mens’ basketball.

San Diego, CA- The NCAA’s sole undefeated basketball team, the San Diego State Aztecs square off against the talented and determined Utah State Aggies Saturday night, looking for their 23rd straight win.

The reigning league champion Aggies will be making an all-out effort to pick up a signature W that could help them attain an at-large NCAA Tournament bid. They will arrive fully determined to win.

Viejas Arena will be jam packed on “Kawhi Leonard Day.” That’s right: the San Diego City Council has proclaimed February 1st the official day of Kwahi Leonard.  The board man does indeed get paid.

Tomorrow has been proclaimed Kawhi Leonard Day in the City of San Diego! It's going to be an epic day here @sandiegostateuniversity! #AztecForLife

On Saturday, he will be paid respect.

Brian Dutcher’s squad remains an unblemished 22-0 after a pair of very challenging road games first at UNLV, then at Albuquerque against the Lobos.  The first was a neck-at-neck fight, while the second was a rout.

At halftime, San Diego State will hold a jersey-retirement ceremony for aforementioned 2019 NBA Finals MVP and now L.A. Clipper Kawhi Leonard, who played for the Aztecs from 2009-11. Leonard led the Aztecs to consecutive Mountain West championships and helped the Aztecs make a Sweet 16 appearance at one of the two NCAA Tournament appearances.

THREE KEYS (PLUS 1) TO AN AZTECS VICTORY

STIFLE THE AGGIES AT THE PERIMETER

During their last outing on January 4th, the Aztecs held Sam Merrill, Justin Bean and the rest of the Aggies to just 26.1% from three point land.  It was a major factor in Utah State managing to shoot just 42.6% from the floor before losing 77-68 at home against the Aztecs.

WIN THE BATTLE OF THE BOARDS

Center Neemias Queta will be back in the game, and it will be vital that the Aztecs fight hard for rebounds both defensively and offensively.  Let’s hope the board man’s presence will inspire Yanni Wetzell and the Aztecs to take rebounding to a whole new level.

SHARE THE ROCK

One of the secrets to the Aztecs’ unprecedented success is moving the basketball and applying patience and care to find the open shooter.  With so many breakout players, when the Aztecs keep the ball moving and make assists the hot hand can be identified and supported by their teammates.  This season we’ve discovered that Malachi Flynn, Yanni Wetzell, Jordan Schakel, KJ Feagin, Trey Pulliam, Matt Mitchell and even other Aztecs each can be capable of breakout performance.

LET KAWHI LEONARD PLAY

The two-time NBA Finals MVP could arguably destroy the entire Utah State Aggies floor with a supporting cast of Flynn, Feagin, Wetzell and Mitchell.

He will be at the game so…

Harold Varner III set a PGA Tour record on Friday at the Waste Management Phoenix Open.

“It’s not a record I wanna have,” he said after his round.

Varner parred his first 14 holes in his second round, this after parring every hole during his first round on Thursday.

Add ’em up and that’s 32 straight pars, now the Tour benchmark for most pars to start a tournament.

It should be noted that this record is for the Tour’s Shotlink era.

What told after his round he now held the mark, he said “No, I did not know that. Not a record you really wanna hold and usually that just doesn’t happen. I wasn’t trying to make pars out there for sure.”

Had he ever come close to anything like that before?

“No and I didn’t really want to.”

He was then asked how the course was playing.

“Average,” Varner dead-panned then chuckled. “But I finally made a birdie so I was pretty ecstatic.”

His birdie came on the par-5 15th hole from the greenside bunker.

In fact, after those 32 straight pars, Varner finished birdie-bogey-birdie-bogey. So on his last four holes “I didn’t make any pars. That’s how I usually play,” he said.

Varner’s bogey on the last though did him in, as he missed the cut by a shot.

K.J. Choi had the previous mark of 27 straight pars to open the Charles Schwab Challenge in 2006.
