Many first-place votes.
With college football officially in the books with the national title game it is always a fun exercise to take a stab at who will be the best teams next year. Our staff has put together their thoughts for an early 2020 Mountain West football power rankings.
Now, these were completed during the time between Rocky Long stepping down at San Diego State and Nick Rolovich leaving Hawaii for Washington State. So, these votes will not reflect that which is something to consider when looking over these.
These rankings are probably going to be way off as in last year’s 2019 first power rankings we had Fresno State and Boise State tied for first place, and the Bulldogs did not even make a bowl game. Plus, Air Force was eighth and the Falcons finished the season 12-2 and ranked in the final AP poll.
Here are some of the votes from our staff.

There is a lot to consider for voting teams where. Like new coaches which the West Division now has four new coaches, returning talent, players leaving to the NFL, transfers in and out, close games last year, reputation, returning talent, and sometimes just a gut feeling.
Three teams that have the most disparity in vote placement are San Jose State. Hawaii and Fresno State. Those three teams had votes that were spread about over eight places. There also are five teams with a first-place votes in Boise State, Air Force, Wyoming, Hawaii, and San Diego State.
Feel free to give us your thoughts on this over at our Facebook or Twitter accounts with your poll.
