25. Chicago Bears 2020 NFL Draft

– This draft wasn’t a total dud, but it’s nothing great. They didn’t have a whole lot to work with – considering everything after the third round is a guess, anyway – and this draft class turns into a winner if Cole Kmet really does turn into an instant star among the ten tight ends on the roster.

– Jaylon Johnson is the biggest call. The Bears desperately needed help for the secondary, and the Utah corner is good, but they took him one pick ahead of Dallas grabbing Alabama corner Trevon Diggs. They also took Kmet one pick ahead of Cleveland grabbing LSU S Grant Delpit.

– No, taking two offensive linemen in the seventh round doesn’t address the problem. Chicago needed to find more help and depth for the O line, and asking a player from the last round is using hope for a strategy.

Best Value Pick: CB Kindle Vildor, Georgia Southern (5th)
Biggest Reach: (considering he was the first TE off the board) TE Cole Kmet, Notre Dame (2nd)
Late Flier That Could Work: LB Trevis Gipson, Tulsa (5th)
2019 NFL Draft Ranking: 30
2018 NFL Draft Ranking: 12
