2020 NFL Draft: Giants will interview all four top offensive tackles

The New York Giants are in the market for an offensive tackle and will meet with all four of the top prospects ahead of the NFL Draft.

The buzz on the internet is that the New York Giants may be in “full bloom love” with Clemson linebacker/safety Isaiah Simmons, but that won’t preclude them from doing their due diligence when it comes to filling their most pressing need — offensive tackle.

Jordan Raanan of ESPN has reported the Giants are going to do just that before the 2020 NFL Draft in two weeks.

The Giants are certainly putting their time and attention toward the top offensive tackles during the pre-draft process, according to sources. They have scheduled video call sessions in the coming weeks with the top tackles, which include Iowa’s Tristan Wirfs and Georgia’s Andrew Thomas. Louisville’s Mekhi Becton and Alabama’s Jedrick Wills are also expected to be in that mix. The Giants were also supposed to have dinner with the prospects before their pro days, which were canceled because of the coronavirus pandemic. So there seems to be little doubt the Giants are contemplating a tackle with their top pick.

The favorite here is Wirfs, who wowed onlookers at the NFL Combine with his size/athleticism combo. At 6-foot-5 and 320 pounds, Wirfs ran a 4.85 40, a 4.68 20-yard shuttle, a 7.65 3-cone drill, had 24 benches, a broad jump of 121 inches and a vertical leap of 36.5 inches.

Wirfs is an extraordinary prospect the Giants might just bump the tweeter Simmons for.
