It’s been written before, and it’s being written again: The Bills’ roster lacks any glaring holes. It’s anticipated that the Bills will only have three new starters on both sides of the ball (wide receiver Stefon Diggs, defensive end Mario Addison, and linebacker AJ Klein). Thus, the team is largely happy with the current state of the roster.
With that in mind, there will always be minor changes that occur. The draft is a perfect spot to help supplement the roster. The organization can also look to the future, selecting players who have a strong chance at being starters in the next two-to-three years. Buffalo’s roster is aging in spots, and now could be the ideal time to bolster these positions with an eye on the future.
The Bills can select Jerry Hughes’ heir apparent with Julian Okwara. With time to refine his game, Okwara has the potential to be a double-digit sack master. Receiver Bryan Edwards gives the Bills a big target for Josh Allen. Once again, the time will be beneficial to iron out some wrinkles in his game. Defensive back Reggie Robinson will push Levi Wallace for snaps this year. In addition, he will have the inside track to play opposite Tre’Davious White in 2021. Rusher Josh Kelley will complement Devin Singletary in the backfield. Linebacker Shaquille Quarterman gives the Bills a versatile depth linebacker for the squad. Wideout Isaiah Coulter is a small-school standout who could push at the bottom of the depth chart, while quarterback Nate Stanley has the attributes to be a serviceable back-up quarterback.
