2020 NFL Draft: Clint Lamb’s final mock draft

The 2020 NFL Draft is set to begin on Thursday, so it’s finally time to release my final mock draft before things get underway. This year was far-and-away the most difficult group I’ve ever had to predict due to the uncertainty surrounding the …

7. Carolina Panthers – Derrick Brown, IDL, Auburn

Previous pick: Derrick Brown, IDL, Auburn

Analysis: This pick almost makes too much sense. Gerald McCoy, Dontari Poe and Vernon Butler signed elsewhere in free agency, leaving Kawann Short as the only viable defensive lineman on the roster.

Derrick Brown didn’t blow anyone at the NFL Combine, but he’s certainly the top interior defensive lineman available and should make an immediate impact in Carolina.

8. Arizona Cardinals – Tristan Wirfs, OT, Iowa

Previous pick: Jedrick Wills Jr., OT, Alabama

Analysis: With the addition of All-Pro wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins, the Cardinals are in a position to target more help along its offensive line, to the benefit of last year’s No. 1 overall pick Kyler Murray, come draft night.

Yes, Marcus Gilbert was re-signed to a one-year deal to potentially be the team’s starting right tackle, but there’s plenty of room for competition at that spot. Expect Tristan Wirfs to win that competition too.

9. Jacksonville Jaguars – Jerry Jeudy, WR, Alabama

Previous pick: C.J. Henderson, CB, Florida

Analysis: There was a time that I bought into C.J. Henderson being a top 10 pick, but the more I watch his tape, the less likely I think that happens. He’ll provide value soon enough, however.

The Jaguars recently released former second-round receiver Marqise Lee, so the door is open for an elite talent like Jerry Jeudy to join D.J. Chark and Dede Westbrook in Jacksonville.
