2020 NFL Draft: Clint Lamb’s final mock draft

The 2020 NFL Draft is set to begin on Thursday, so it’s finally time to release my final mock draft before things get underway. This year was far-and-away the most difficult group I’ve ever had to predict due to the uncertainty surrounding the …

4. New York Giants – Jedrick Wills Jr., OT, Alabama

Previous pick: Isaiah Simmons, S/LB, Clemson

Analysis: I’m still a believer that Giants general manager Dave Gettleman will try to trade down here, but without a team wanting to move up for Tua Tagovailoa or Justin Herbert, they are forced to stay put.

Alabama offensive tackle Jedrick Wills Jr. will step in and be an immediate starter at right tackle for an offense that’s looking to add more protection for 2019 first-round pick Daniel Jones.

5. Miami Dolphins – Tua Tagovailoa, QB, Alabama

Previous pick: Tua Tagovailoa, QB, Alabama

Analysis: The rumors have been swirling that the Dolphins prefer Oregon’s Justin Herbert over Tua Tagovailoa. But don’t forget, folks: draft season is lying season.

Tagovailoa obviously comes with significant injury concerns, but he would be in the conversation for the No. 1 overall pick if he could’ve even stayed healthy in 2019. In other words, I’d be shocked if the Alabama quarterback wasn’t the pick for Miami.

6. Los Angeles Chargers – Justin Herbert, QB, Oregon

Previous pick: Justin Herbert, QB, Oregon

Analysis: If the Dolphins do decide to take Herbert over Tagovailoa, it will be Anthony Lynn’s gain, as the Chargers would be able to land the second-best quarterback in the 2020 draft class.

Herbert isn’t a bad consolation prize, however, and he certainly fits the bill as far as being a mobile player, which is what Lynn prefers out of his signal-callers.
