Rounds 2-4
To address their next biggest need heading into the draft, the Bills select Curtis Weaver from Boise State. Weaver would take over some duties along their edge defender spots:
54. Buffalo Bills | Curtis Weaver | EDGE | Boise State
In Weaver, the Bills would land a versatile player that showed an ability to play with his hand in the dirt and off tackle. However, he’d be a defensive end for the Bills. He was the 2019 Mountain West Defensive Player of the Year, racking up 52 total tackles, 19.5 tackles for loss and 13.5 sacks. Weaver also had an interception.
In terms of run vs. pass defending, he’s more of a proven run defender and the Bills will hope to get more sacks out of their pass rushers than they did in 2019. Shaq Lawson, who’s a pending free agent, led the Bills’ edge defenders with only 6.5 sacks last season. Weavers QB pressure rate of 18.2 percent is the second-most in college football since 2018, though.
Here’s Weaver sacking a familiar player in Wyoming’s Josh Allen:
Couldn't stop laughing after this Curtis Weaver sack celebration…

In Round 3, the Bills stay on the defensive side of the ball with Shyhein Carter from Alabama.
86. Buffalo Bills | Shyheim Carter | DB | Alabama
Carter certainly reads as a Sean McDermott type of player. For the powerhouse that is Alabama, Carter was a third safety or nickel cornerback/ linebacker. That reads right into a Lorenzo Alexander type of hybrid player, but Carter wouldn’t be a polished as a pass rusher at all.
Wrapping up with the Bills fourth and final pick, it’s certainly a project type of player:
118. Buffalo Bills | Ben Bartch | OL | St. John’s
The Bills could lose Quinton Spain this offseason as he’s a pending free agent. Having said that, Ben Bartch isn’t going to be your replacement for him. At the Senior Bowl Bartch held his own against better players, but he was also the only Division III prospect invited to the event. Division III to the NFL is going to be a quite a jump.
@72TraThomas here is him competing at senior bowl. D3 OT doesn't seemed phased by competition. Ben Bartch (St Johns) pic.twitter.com/8ZNmBcvsFD
