The next great Boise State lineman?

It isn’t always easy to stand out in a football program with standards as high as Boise State’s have been this century, but the next entrant on our list of the Mountain West’s best players seems poised to secure a place among the next class of Broncos greats.

After breaking into the starting lineup in the second half of 2018, John Ojukwu started 11 games at right tackle for his hometown school last fall and did his part to help the offense improve as the season wore on. In the three games that he missed in September, the Broncos ended up allowing 17 tackles for loss and five sacks, but his return enabled the Broncos to, among other things, extend their ongoing streak of producing a 1,000-yard rusher to twelve seasons and bear Hank Bachmeier’s injury en route to another conference title.

In 2020, Ojukwu will slide to left tackle and protect Bachmeier’s blindside. As the lone veteran on a reloading unit, if he is anywhere near as good as the man he’s replacing, Ezra Cleveland, he’ll be an easy all-conference selection.
