Contract details
So, how much is it costing the Bills?
According to NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo, a few factors played into Norman’s decision to pick the Bills. Reportedly there were several teams interested in him, but Norman picked the Bills because of his familiarity with the defensive system McDermott runs and the talent Buffalo’s defense already has.
But the Bills are paying up for that gamble on Norman. Per NFL Network’s report, the contract is only a one-year deal, but the Bills are paying up to $8 million for Norman’s services next season. The contract has a $6 million base salary and another $2 million in incentives.
By comparison, in recent years, when bringing in a veteran cornerback to play alongside Tre’Davious White, the Bills have paid less. Vontae Davis landed a $5 million deal with Buffalo with incentives while Kevin Johnson had a $3 million contract last year.
The Bills are clearly not afraid to tact on a few more dollars, if the contract reported is correct. Buffalo entered Monday Morning with approximately $83 million in salary cap space, forth-most in the NFL.
