The USFL Draft is now complete. The new version of this old league is hoping to succeed where so many others — including it’s former version — have failed. And today they set out to fill the rosters of their eight-team league with a 35-round draft.
Among those selected in this draft were ten players who once spent time with the Raiders, either on the active roster, practice squad, or on the offseason roster.
Birmingham Stallions
OL Cameron Hunt – 2019 undrafted free agent with Raiders. Waived/injured prior to the season.
P Colby Wadman – 2018 signed as a free agent with Raiders. Cut two months later. Played 2018-19 with the Broncos.
Houston Gamblers
LB Azeem Victor – 2018 6th round draft choice by Raiders. Didn’t make the roster out of camp.
Michigan Panthers
WR Jeff Badet – Signed with Raiders practice squad November 2021.
New Jersey Generals
CB De’Vante Bausby – Spent part of 2021 camp with Raiders.
S Shalom Luani – 2017 7th round pick by Raiders. The man Reggie McKenzie called a “Football Playing Jessie”. Spent one season with the Raiders before being traded to the Seahawks. Played one season there and another with the Chargers.
New Orleans Breakers
QB Kyle Sloter – 2021 reserve/future signing by Raiders. Spent the 2021 season on the Raiders practice squad. Was signed by the Vikings on December 29.
DT Shakir Soto – Late 2018 season practice squad addition by Raiders. Re-signed to reserve/future contract. Waived in final 2019 roster cuts.
Philadelphia Stars
LB Te’Von Coney – 2019 undrafted free agent signing by Raiders. Waived in final roster cuts. Signed to practice squad late in the season. Re-signed to reserve/future deal in January, cut in May. Spent part of 2021 camp with the Raiders.
Pittsburgh Maulers
OL Vadal Alexander – 2016 7th round pick by Raiders. Spent two seasons with the Raiders, appearing in 24 games with nine starts. Suspended four games for PED violation in 2018, placed on reserve/failed to report list.
RB Garrett Groshek – 2021 undrafted free agent signing by Raiders. Waived in final roster cuts.
Tampa Bay Bandits
RB BJ Emmons – Signed just prior to 2021 training camp. Waived in final roster cuts. Signed to the practice squad and was released five days later.
S Obi Melifonwu – 2017 round two pick by Raiders. Played five games for the Raiders as a rookie. Placed on IR prior to the 2018 season then released with an injury settlement. Later signed with the Patriots. Played two games in New England.
