Second half defense vs. Texans

Simply put, a tale of two halves for the Bills defense and team, overall, against the Texans. Houston quarterback Deshaun Watson looked lost at halftime and then in the second half, starting things off going 13-for-14 passing. Not good. McDermott said the problem was fundamentals going haywire.

“When you look at it… The things that you have to do in playoff games, in the Super Bowl, you’ve got to be able to do the little things. Sometimes the little things become the big things and that’s where I was going with it… tackling, in key moments of the game, we didn’t tackle well. And so that showed up, fundamentally, and I know I talked a lot about it so this is not anything new. You have to be able to have a high level of execution in your key fundamentals of the game and we didn’t. We have to continue, as coaches, to go back and look at why? Schematically, why… were we putting the players in the position [to do that], all of that. It’s really what we have to do, evaluate from top-to-bottom,” McDermott said.
