Thoughts on controversy
The Bills had some massive controversy in their rollar coaster ride that was their meeting with the Texans. Specifically, some involved some bad calls by the refs. McDermott discussed two of those on Tuesday but wasn’t very candid. He likely didn’t want to get in trouble but he wasn’t happy about them, it was easy to tell that.
On the overturned touchdown on the second half kickoff…
“I wish I could go give our fans an explanation… but I don’t want to go there now, I can’t go there now. The part I will say is… we had a chance to go up 20-0 at that point, it got ruled that was at first and then it got changed, I have to stand by, and go with what the ruling got changed to, that’s the way our league works. I can tell you I’ve had a conversation about the league office about it and the explanation they gave me, they supported the call on the field and what it got reversed to,” McDermott said.
On Cody Ford’s blindside block…
“Again, I asked about that as well, and they felt like it was called the right way,” McDermott said.
The coach also interrupted a question make sure he didn’t sound like he was complaining or too upset, saying the game didn’t just come down to bad calls. And he’s right about that
“That is not why we lost the game, I take responsibility and ownership as the head coach and we move forward and we need to play and coach better. That should not come into play,” McDemrott said.
