10 things to know about new Bills DE Mario Addison

With the departures of Shaq Lawson and Jordan Phillips, Addison will be entrusted to come into Buffalo and make up for some of their sacks.

Does he like McDermott’s defense actually?

Addison might have just trying to be confident in the scheme change the Panthers made last year, but he did say he like he likes playing in a 3-4 defense instead of a 4-3 one, the kind McDermott runs in Buffalo. In a 3-4, Addison plays a hybrid linebacker spot. He broke down the differences and his feelings on it:

“Going from a 4-3, we mainly rush,” Addison said to the Charlotte Observer. “We rush to the edge—rush, rush, rush, rush, but playing it from depth [in a 3-4], being able to stand up. I like the standup part, because you can see the play unfold real quick and you can check the backfield out, so you’ve got more vision. That’s why I like the 3-4.”

Of course, that doesn’t take away from him having experience in a 4-3, so we’ll see how things play out in the Bills defense.
