From one first-round draft pick to another, Pelicans rookie Zion Williamson helped welcome Cesar Ruiz to New Orleans after the Saints selected him with the 24th overall pick in the NFL Draft on Thursday.
Ruiz has already been welcomed to the Saints by quarterback Drew Brees since joining the team and Williamson joined in on the action on Saturday after sending Ruiz a video message, which was posted on the Saints’ Twitter account.
“Welcome to New Orleans, Cesar,” Williamson said. “I would like to say congratulations on getting drafted. My only advice to you is: If you love the city, they will love you right back. Once again, congrats and welcome to the city.”

Ruiz, a center from Michigan, was named to the All-Big Ten Second Team after a strong junior season with the Wolverines. Ruiz is expected to have an opportunity to become the starter on the Saints’ offensive line next season.
