Zion Williamson loved playing with Ja Morant during NBA Rising Stars

Williamson said his favorite moment from the game on Friday was catching a lob from Morant.

For a moment, Zion Williamson remembered what it was like to play with Ja Morant.

Of course, the two were teammates in high school when they played on the same AAU team in South Carolina. Williamson even recalled recently that they were both role-players on that team as they waited their turn to play.

Williamson and Morant linked up once again on Friday in the NBA Rising Stars Game as they led Team USA to a 151-131 win over the World Team. Williamson scored 14 points and two rebounds while Morant had 10 points, six assists and five rebounds.

The two rookies put on a show in the laid back showcase game.

Williamson threw down a number of highlight-reel dunks with even some of his misses proving to be more entertaining than not. He connected with Morant on an alley-oop that tilted the backboard, requiring a readjustment at halftime.

Afterward, Williamson said his alley-oop from Morant was his favorite moment from the game.

Reminisced on that, back to ninth grade. It was crazy, honestly. Because after I caught it and we got like a timeout or we got subbed out, I was thinking about our Hornets days, and I keep thinking never in a million years would I have thought we’d have been in this game or been in the situation we’re in. So it was that moment.

The NBA Rising Stars on Friday proved to be one of the most entertaining matchups in recent memory with some of the league’s top, young talent on display.
