When the Chicago White Sox opted to hire Tony La Russa as manager, so much was made about how La Russa — a living relic of baseball’s traditionalist past — would take the fun and personality away from one of the most exciting teams in the league.
And while La Russa certainly had his moments throughout the season, the White Sox’s talented core was still able to run away with the division title without turning into a boring shell of themselves.
A trip to the postseason didn’t change that either.
