This week, legions of Conor McGregor fans will come out in support of the Irishman for his trilogy fight against Dustin Poirier.

This week, legions of [autotag]Conor McGregor[/autotag] fans will come out in support of the Irishman.

One of those supporters is WWE superstar Becky Lynch. If McGregor is Ireland’s most popular male athlete, Lynch might just be his counterpart on the women’s side. Ahead of UFC 264, Lynch cut a promotional spot for BT Sport that hits on how she and McGregor are cut from a different cloth than the most others.

“Some are born to take the middle path – the safe stretch of road,” Lynch says in the spot. “But us warriors are born with something in us – the light and the dark … the fire and the ice … the good and the bad – that takes us down a different path: A path to glory that threatens to destroy us. For each battle is not fought on the canvas, but in the arena of the mind.

“But there’s a fine line between genius and madness: Loved for the enemy slain, loathed for the destruction left behind. For the most notorious, it’s not where the journey takes them, but when the journey ends. So go forth, brother, and let the battle begin.”

McGregor (22-5 MMA, 10-3 UFC) on Saturday fights Dustin Poirier (27-6 MMA, 19-5 UFC) in a lightweight trilogy fight in the UFC 264 main event at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. The main card airs on pay-per-view following prelims on ESPN and ESPN+.

Poirier evened the score when he knocked out McGregor in January. McGregor holds a 2014 quick knockout of Poirier on his resume.
