WWE Backlash 2023 results: Seth Rollins stomps his way past Omos

See if and how Seth Rollins was able to overcome one of his literally biggest challenges to date.

During his ring walk, the announce team discusses the “brilliant” business move that made Omos a free agent during the WWE Draft. Corey Graves notes that MVP feels he is a “big money attraction” but could use a win here to validate that claim. Seth Rollins hears a ridiculously loud singalong to his entrance theme, as you’d expect.

Seth drinks it in but eats a huge boot from Omos, who follows with a shoulder tackle once the bell rings to start the match. The Nigerian Giant mockingly cups his ear to the fans as he continues to throw Rollins around, also catching a right to the midsection while attempting to springboard in off the apron.

Omos grabs Rollins’ head in his hand like a basketball and chucks him over the top rope to the floor. But Seth squirms free and knocks Omos into the post, then scores with a suicide dive. A second fares worse as Omos catches him and slams him on the apron.

An overhead press allows Omos to throw Rollins back into the ring. He picks up Rollins for Snake Eyes and follows with a big boot. Omos mocks the singing again, drawing plenty of boos.

Seth finally gets some offense going and even gets his large foe to one knee with a low dropkick. A superkick is next, but his attempt at a modified Pedigree is met with a back body drop from Omos’ knees.

Omos misses on a corner charge, then gets his head bounced off the top of the post. Rollins climbs for a tornado DDT, then scales the other corner for a big frog splash. Rollins covers but sees Omos kick out at one.

Seth keeps at it, hitting a rolling elbow and a flying forearm. He charges in for the Stomp, but Omos shrugs it off and hits a chokeslam for a near fall. Rollins tries for a sleeper, hanging on even as he gets smacked back into the turnbuckles. Omos drops to one knee and is fading, but he hits a side slam to free himself.

Rollins hits a Stomp, superkicks MVP and scores with another Stomp, but Omos kicks out at two. So Seth goes to the top rope for his third Stomp, and that does it, finally.
