With loss, Patriots’ odds increase in landing No. 1 overall draft pick

Forget about the top-three, the Patriots might be in position to land the No. 1 pick overall in the 2024 NFL draft.

The New England Patriots lost a dismal game against the Los Angeles Chargers by a 6-0 score on Sunday. With the loss, they improved their chances of getting the top overall selection in the 2024 NFL draft.

According to ESPN analytics writer Seth Walder, the Chicago Bears still have a 75.9 percent chance to earn the top pick, while New England has a 19.4 percent chance to earn the top overall selection. Arizona rounds out the top-three with a 2.8 percent chance at the first selection.

The Patriots have lost five out of their last six contests, and they have lost the last three games by a combined score of 26-13.

On Thursday, the Patriots are set to take on the same Pittsburgh Steelers team that just lost to a two-win Cardinals team. A win could put them out of the running for the No. 1 draft spot, while a loss would keep them in the hunt for the top prize.
