With Drew Brees returning, should the Bucs make a run at QB Teddy Bridgewater?

With Drew Brees announcing his decision to return in 2020, should the Bucs pursue his backup Teddy Bridgewater in free agency?

Earlier today, New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees announced on his Instagram page that he would be returning to the Saints for the 2020 NFL season, this coming after weeks of speculation about whether the future Hall of Famer was ready to call it a career.

With Brees now taking himself off the list of quarterbacks who will hit the 2020 open market, his teammate from last year, backup quarterback Teddy Bridgewater, will likely find his name added to that list in light of today’s news.

Bridgewater filled in admirably for Brees last season when the Super Bowl-winning QB went down with a thumb injury. Bridgewater went 5-0 as a starter, including a Week 5 win over the Buccaneers where he scorched the team for 314 yards and four touchdown passes.

So, if Bridgewater is out in New Orleans, should the Bucs make a run at him? Remember, Bruce Arians is a big fan of Bridgewater, and the coach recently said the Bucs haven’t made a decision at the quarterback position yet because they are waiting to see what’s available in free agency.

Could this be what they were waiting for?
