Wisconsin may not be the first school that comes to mind when you think of first round picks in the NFL Draft as even the program’s…

Melvin Gordon began his Badger career behind James White and Montee Ball on the running back depth chart. Once he saw the field he instantly became on of the greatest backs in program history.

The list of his college accolades go on-and-on, but few would argue that the shining moment of his college career was his 408-yard, four touchdown game against Nebraska as a senior which set the FBS single game rushing record. People forget that this effort came on only 25 carries and in only three quarters of football, as the Badgers had a big lead and opted to rest Gordon in the fourth quarter.

Gordon finished his college career with 4915 yards and 45 touchdowns, a Doak Walker Award for the nation’s best running back, an All-American selection and countless Wisconsin, Big Ten and national rushing records.

This production was attractive enough for the then-San Diego Chargers to select Gordon with the 15th overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft.

The Wisconsin native’s professional career got off to a slow start in 2015 but since that point he has cemented himself as one of the most complete backs in the NFL.

Entering into his sixth NFL season Gordon has posted 4240 rushing yards and 36 rushing touchdowns in addition to 1873 receiving yards and 11 receiving touchdowns.

The former Badger recently joined a new team in the Denver Broncos and is set to start for them at running back in 2020.
