Wisconsin veteran cornerback declares for the 2025 NFL draft

Wisconsin veteran cornerback R.J. Delancy declared for the 2025 NFL draft on Thursday.

The fifth-year senior played just one season with the Badgers. He previously spent one year at Nebraska (2020) and three at Toledo (2021-23).

The veteran transferred to Wisconsin before the 2024 season. He was part of a crowded cornerback room that also included star Ricardo Hallman, accomplished veteran Nyzier Fourqurean and rising freshman Xavier Lucas.

As a result, Delancy played limited snaps at cornerback. He finished the 2024 season with 11 games played and seven tackles. Those numbers were far below his career-best 2023 campaign at Toledo — 28 tackles, one tackle for loss, one interception and 10 pass deflections.

“A special thanks to Badgers fans whose love and support have been incredible. You’ve made my college experience at the University of Wisconsin truly unforgettable,” Delancy wrote on X. “I am excited to announce my decision to declare for the 2025 NFL draft. As I move on, I carry these cherished memories and lessons with me, forever a Wisconsin Badger. I am excited to embrace this new chapter with determination.”

DraftScout.com has yet to list a day or round projection for the veteran cornerback.

Wisconsin’s cornerback room is set to look almost entirely different in 2025. The Badgers have seen several redshirt freshmen transfer out, headlined by Amare Snowden and Jonas Duclona. The program still awaits word on whether Ricardo Hallman will return for another season.

With or without Hallman back, the Badgers badly need to land depth and experience at the position this portal cycle. Delancy’s departure is another experienced player gone from that room.
