With the early signing period for high school football players beginning on December 18, Badgers Insider takes a closer look at the recruits that signed with the Wisconsin football program.
In this edition, we examine Kettle Moraine (WI) High School offensive lineman Trey Wedig.

Wedig chose Wisconsin over other Offers from: Georgia, Iowa State, Michigan, Minnesota, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Syracuse, Tennessee, and USC
Wedig’s High School Accolades: Four–star recruit by 247 Sports, ESPN and Rivals…No. 1–ranked player in Wisconsin and No. 9–ranked offensive tackle in the nation…Earned invitation to 2020 Under Armour All–America Game
Wedig’s Impact as a Badger: Wedig was a key in-state recruit as he was rated as the No. 1 player in the state of Wisconsin by both Rivals and 247 Sports. Nationally Wedig is rated as the 70th best prospect by 247 Sports and the 88th rated prospect by Rivals. Wedig will join future Badger teammate and offensive lineman Jack Nelson in San Antonio to compete in the All-American Bowl.
Wedig projects to offensive tackle for Wisconsin as he’s listed at 6’7″ and 301 pounds. Wedig is a good athlete for his size as he’s able to win his matchup in the trenches and then able to get to the next level as he looks for another person to block.
Wedig also fits the multi-sport athlete Paul Chryst and the rest of Wisconsin’s coaching staff look for when they fill out a recruiting class. Outside of being dominant on the football field Wedig has also excelled in the shot put.
Wedig like Nelson will certainly have competition in terms of getting on the field as a true freshman. But due to his natural talent and athleticism and with offensive coordinator and offensive line coach Joe Rudolph coaching him he should be ready to compete for a starting spot by 2021.
