Weaknesses:
Although Baun took a nice step in the pass-rushing department this past season he’ll need to continue to work on this area as he takes a step up in competition.
Baun’s hand placement will need to be precise as he won’t always be able to bull rush his way into the backfield. Making it important that he continues to add to his pass-rushing moves in order to counter what opposing running backs or offensive lineman may do to prevent him from creating pressure.
Although Baun played outside linebacker for Wisconsin there has been some chatter about him possibly playing inside linebacker. Some NFL teams do prefer him at outside linebacker but if he does indeed make the position switch to inside he’ll be expected to adjust quickly. Considering where he goes in the draft the expectation could be that he’s ready to contribute to the defense for this coming season.
Zack Baun Landing Spot
Baun will likely go late first round to early second as he could be the first Badger off the draft board. Baun certainly has the tools to have success in the NFL as plenty of NFL teams are looking for players who can create pressure. Considering the consistent pass rush Baun was able to supply for the Badgers this past year he’ll be an attractive prospect. Baun could potentially go to the Miami Dolphins (26th overall pick), Seattle Seahawks (27th overall pick), or the Baltimore Ravens (28th overall pick) in the first round. If Baun does fall out of the first round another potential landing spot could be to the New York Giants with the 36th overall pick but that may be dependent on if they draft Clemson’s outside linebacker Isaiah Simmons or not with their first pick.
