Rising sophomore guard Connor Essegian was called up to the Armenian national team this week in a matchup against France at Cal State Northridge.
Essegian set the Wisconsin record for made threes as a freshman and is known for his sharpshooting. In his national team debut, the Indiana native dropped 14 points on 4-10 shooting from distance. Armenia fell 98-83 to France in the international matchup.
Essegian’s debut for Armenia came in the “Armenian Basketball Classic,” an event that took place June 16-17 and saw Armenia take on France. It was the first ever Armenian basketball game to be played in the United States.
