Wisconsin football did something they haven’t done in over 30 years

The Badgers did something today that they haven’t done since Barry Alvarez’s first season in charge

On “Barry Alvarez Day” at Camp Randall, maybe it’s fitting that we remember how far Wisconsin football has come since Alvarez took over.

With the Badgers falling to 1-3 on the season after an embarrassing second half led to a 38-17 loss to Michigan, Wisconsin has done something that hasn’t been done for 31 years. The last time Wisconsin started 1-3? Alvarez was in his first season at the helm of the Badger program. The Badgers last started 1-3 in the 1990 season, a season in which they finished 1-10 on the year before “The Don” began his remarkable turnaround of the program.

Wisconsin will hope to avoid the way the 1990 season ended, even if 2021 and 1990 have been linked through their first four games.
