Shortly after each college football season one of the first thoughts that pops into each fan’s head is when will spring football begin?
Wisconsin fans have that answer now as Wisconsin’s football Twitter account announced that the Badgers will officially begin spring practice starting Tuesday, March 10th.
The Badgers will lose 12 players from last year’s roster to graduation, lose five players to either transfers or retirement, and Wisconsin lost three players early to the NFL draft in Jonathan Taylor, Quintez Cephus, and Tyler Biadasz.
Although Wisconsin loses three key players on the offensive side of the football the losses of Taylor and Biadasz were expected. In total, the Badgers only lose four players off of their two-deep depth chart on the offensive side of the football and three on the defensive side.
The Badgers certainly have enough talent and pieces returning from last year’s team, which went 10-4 and won the Big Ten West division. The 15 spring practices starting March 10th will serve as the first opportunity for new players to step into roles that have been vacated.
After their first spring practice, Wisconsin will practice again on March 12th before the university goes on spring break from March 14th to March 22nd. The Badgers first practice back after returning from spring break will be March 22nd.
Wisconsin will practice a total of four times the week of March 22nd and then will practice three times a week until the conclusion of spring practice on April 18th.
The final spring practice on Saturday, April 18th will also serve as family day for Wisconsin allowing for Badgers fans to get an early look at the 2020 Wisconsin football team.
The Badgers will officially open their season against Indiana on Friday, September 4th.
