One of the top players in the Badger State and a future Wisconsin Badger took home a top high school football award on Friday. 2021 Badger signee Hunter Wohler out of Muskego High School in Wisconsin was named Gatorade state Player of the Year.
In the conversation for best safety in the history of the Badger State, Wohler finished his prep career with 355 tackles and 11 interceptions.
“Hunter was a force on the defensive side of the ball,” said Vince Sciano, head coach of Waukesha North High School. “He could cover sideline to sideline. Then he would come screaming down and make tackles at the line of scrimmage. He was an absolute monster.”
Wohler was also a standout in the classroom, earning a weighted 4.29 GPA as a high school student. He is part of Wisconsin’s highest-ranked class in the modern recruiting era and will suit up as a Badger next season.
Congrats to Muskego’s Hunter Wohler on being named the @Gatorade Wisconsin Football Player of the Year.
