Serah Williams, a true freshman forward from Ontario, Canada was selected as a member of the Big Ten’s All-Freshman team Tuesday. The 6-foot-4 athlete averaged 13.0 points and 5.4 rebounds per game while starting all but the Badgers’ senior night contest on Sunday (29 games).
Williams gave the Wisconsin women’s basketball team an instant boost in her first season under head coach Marisa Moseley in Madison, finishing second to only senior wing Julie Pospisilova (14 PPG) while her rebounding numbers were the highest on a per game basis.
Additionally, the freshman had a couple remarkable performances during her first campaign, producing 31 points and 13 rebounds against Michigan State on Jan. 11 and then later compiled a 21-point, eight-rebound performance versus Rutgers on Feb. 20. Her contributions helped lead the Badgers to wins in both contests against Big Ten foes.
