As the 2023-2024 season is around the corner, the Wisconsin women’s basketball team had their incoming freshman from the 2023 recruiting class move in this week.

Guard D’Yanis Jimenez, guard Leena Patibandla, forward Imbie Jones and forward Tessa Grady have officially moved in. One more freshman, Ana Guillen will move in at a later date.

The Badgers are coming off of a 11-20 (6-12 in the Big Ten) campaign in 2022-2023, but they lost leading scorer Julie Pospisilova as well as guards Avery LaBarbera (graduated) and Maty Wilke (transferred to Utah) and will be looking to replace their production.

Head coach Marisa Moseley is entering her third season at the helm and this is her second recruiting class in Madison.

Iowa State guard enters transfer portal

Lexi Donarski elected to enter the transfer portal Friday after three seasons with ISU. The La Crosse native will now look for a new team.

Lexi Donarski elected to enter the transfer portal Friday after three seasons with Iowa State. The La Crosse, Wisconsin native will now look for a new team.

The 6-foot guard started all 95 games she played in with the Cyclones, averaging 13.2 points per game, 3.2 rebounds and 2.1 assists over 35 minutes per contest. With Julie Pospisilova (14.1 PPG) leaving the program following the 2022-2023 season, Donarski could be a solid option to replace her production next season if the Badgers can land her out of the portal.

As a five-star recruit from the class 2020, Donarski was the Wisconsin Player of the Year and a member of the McDonald’s All-American team in high school. The Badgers never really got a shot at her the first time around after she committed to ISU in eighth grade, but it seems likely that coach Marisa Moseley and her staff will take a stab at acquiring Donarski this offseason.

Grace Grocholski, a two-time WIAA state champion from Kettle Moraine announced Thursday that she is decommitting from West Virginia. She was set to join the program in 2023.

The four-star recruit averaged 24.7 points, 9.4 rebounds and 4.1 assists during the 2022-2023 campaign. Her team defeated Brookfield East in the Division 1 championship.

It’s unclear whether the women’s team will pursue Grocholsk, but given the loss of Julie Pospisilova, coach Marisa Moseley will certainly be looking to replace the senior’s 14.1 ppg from this season.

The Wisconsin women produced six Big Ten victories this year, their most conference wins since the 2011 season.
