Tom Brady is retired (for good this time), and Blaine Gabbert is a free agent who isn’t expected back after the Tampa Bay Buccaneers overhauled their offensive coaching staff this offseason.
That leaves Kyle Trask as the Bucs’ only quarterback under contract for the 2023 season.
A second-round pick out of Florida in the 2021 NFL draft, Trask has been a healthy scratch for almost every game of his career so far. But with Brady and Gabbert both gone, and the Bucs dealing with a difficult salary cap situation, will Trask be forced into the starting job this season?
ESPN’s Jeff Darlington recently broke down the situation:
The #Bucs will likely go ahead with QB Kyle Trask as their Week 1 starter, per Jeff Darlington
He added that he thinks GM Jason Licht believes that "Kyle Trask is the best QB in the division."https://t.co/QOtjyBHFAA pic.twitter.com/qTkjWdynwF

The Bucs are expected to bring in at least one experienced veteran to compete with Trask for the starting job, but after investing a second-round pick, they owe it to themselves to see what he’s capable of when working with the starters.
