Will Fuller, Miami Dolphins agree to 1-year contract

Former Notre Dame receiver Will Fuller is coming his best NFL season.

Former Notre Dame receiver Will Fuller is coming his best NFL season. In his fifth and final season with the Houston Texans, he made 53 receptions for 879 yards and eight touchdowns at 16.6 yards a catch. All of those numbers represent career highs for Fuller. Now, he’ll get a chance to prove himself further with the Miami Dolphins, who agreed to terms with Fuller on a one-year contract Thursday.

There’s a bit of irony for Notre Dame fans who have come to detest Alabama in recent years because Fuller now is a target of former Tide quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, who just completed his rookie year. Of course, college rivalries mostly fade into the background when you become NFL teammates and you’re focused on the here and now. Plus, Fuller will need to rely on Tagovailoa to bump his numbers up further after he was suspended for the final five games of the 2020 season for using a performance-enhancing substance. Sometimes, you have to leave all reservations behind.
