During the 2020 season, true freshman EDGE defender Will Anderson Jr. put the college football world on notice with his stellar play. The 2021 season saw another Alabama true freshman EDGE defender do much of the same in Florida native Dallas Turner.
Turner finished his first season at the collegiate level with 30 tackles, 10 tackles for loss, and 8.5 sacks. Turner began to find his rhythm late in the year, recording 5.5 of his 8.5 sacks in the final four games of the season.
When asked about Turner’s growth on Monday afternoon, Anderson had the following to say about the rising sophomore.
“I think he’s been very humble. He’s still learning. He hasn’t been comfortable with anything. He’s still looking for that next step to help him get better and reach his ultimate goal just to be better.”
“I tell him all the time, you don’t have to do nothing more, you don’t have to do nothing less, just go out there and be you.”
The high praise of Turner from Anderson will surely have Tide fans excited about the outside linebacker duo that the Alabama defense will display this fall. In fact, you could make the argument that there isn’t a better EDGE duo in the entire country than Anderson and Turner.
