The Titans chose to upgrade their secondary by taking Virginia Tech cornerback Caleb Farley with the No. 22 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.
With 6 interceptions and 19 pass deflections in his two seasons played for the Hokies, Farley enters the NFL with plenty of collegiate ball production to his name. He brings an enticing combination of length, athletic ability, ball skills and physicality to the table.
He blends his hip fluidity and direction-changing prowess with an ability to fight at the catch point and contort himself to attack the ball. His injury history is a slight concern, but when healthy, he stakes a reasonable claim as the best cornerback in the 2021 class.
Tennessee came into the draft with a major weakness at the cornerback position, and they filled it by selecting a prospect in Farley who would not have been available had he not undergone a back procedure. Assuming he returns to full strength, he could be one of the better value selections of the first round.
