Well, here we are. Complete and utter chaos has broken out around the NBA. The Brooklyn Nets are done.
Kevin Durant has requested a trade with four (!!!!!) full seasons left on his contract with the Brooklyn Nets. We don’t see this type of thing happen — ever. It is literally without precedent.
Everybody should be making the call for him—every team in the NBA. Every fanbase is coming up with fake trades for their teams and rightfully so. It’s honestly what the teams, themselves, should be doing.
In all honesty, though, it’s hard to imagine what a trade package for Durant would look like — mostly because we’ve never seen this before. There will obviously be stars available to be traded, but there are certain starts the Nets actually can’t get here.
It’s all because of a weird rule in the collective bargaining agreement that prevents young stars from stacking up on one team. And that rule is preventing teams like the Miami Heat and Phoenix Suns from blowing everyone else out of the water with an offer for KD.
