Josiah Brown included Rutgers football in his top seven, a cutdown of schools that happened this week.
A four-star recruit out of Holy Trinity (Hicksville, N.Y.), Brown is one of the top recruits in the nation. According to the On3 Industry Ranking, Brown is the No. 219 recruit in the nation, the ninth overall athlete and the top player in New York.
Also a standout sprinter, Brown is an elite athlete and talent as well as one of the most sought-after recruits from the tri-state area. Were Brown to commit to Rutgers, it would be an important and seminal moment for other top players from New Jersey and New York.
Rutgers is recruiting him as a wide receiver and is doing well in connecting with him, Brown says. He is also beginning to develop a relationship with wide receivers coach [autotag]Dave Brock[/autotag].

Brock was most recently the wide receivers coach of the Atlanta Falcons.
“Things are going well, I’m building a relationship with coach Brock,” Brown told Rutgers Wire this week.
“Their coaching style stands out. I really like Rutgers.”
As for why Rutgers is trending well as part of Brown’s seven schools, he says that the off the field bond that is formed is helping the Big Ten program in his recruitment. Brown has been to the Rutgers campus multiple times over the past year.
“They are teachers, they create a good relationship with all their players,” Brown said.
“The coaches at Rutgers try to look out for you mentally as well.”
