Former Heisman-winning running back Derrick Henry has been stellar for the Tennessee Titans since the franchise selected him in the second round of the 2016 NFL draft.
Despite 2022 being his seventh season in the league, he produced the third-highest rushing total of his career (1,538 yards). As a physical power back, it’s amazing Henry’s body allows him to continue playing at such a high level, and he constantly seems to be improving.
Before the 2020 NFL season, Henry signed a four-year contract extension with the Titans. If the two parties can’t agree on an extension, Henry could hit free agency completely unrestricted after the season.
Recently on the ESPN program “Get Up,” NFL reporter Jeff Darlington made an interesting comment regarding Henry.
“You want to trade a guy before it’s too late,” Darlington said. “Maybe they get something. Trade away Derrick Henry to the Buffalo Bills. Just speculating here, but man, that’d be a fun one.”
Though Darlington made it clear it was just fun speculation, fans ran with it and were given a bit of a teaser, courtesy of Von Miller of the Buffalo Bills.
In a picture posted to Miller’s Instagram story, he is seen posing next to Henry at a training facility. Miller didn’t caption the picture, but used the eyes emoji and the buffalo emoji.
Could this mean Miller’s potentially recruiting Henry?
The Bills have a stellar offense loaded with talents like Josh Allen and Stefon Diggs. However, a consistent run game has been what’s lacking for the last few seasons. Henry would be a massive upgrade for the dominant AFC East team.
