Why Alabama’s Million Dollar Band isn’t playing at Crimson Tide’s game vs. Texas

There’s an interesting reason behind the decision not to have them make the trip to Austin.

If you’re watching Alabama play Texas in Austin on Saturday in Week 2 of the college football season, you may have noticed: The Crimson Tide’s Million Dollar Band isn’t in attendance.

Wondering what the deal is? We’re here to explain: Per a statement via The Tuscaloosa News, “Due to the seating location and configuration of the visiting institution’s ticket allotment at Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium, the Million Dollar Band will not make the trip this weekend for the Alabama at Texas football game.”

One of the reasons why, as they mentioned? As KXAN noted, the visiting band was placed in the upper northeast corner of Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium.

So it just might not be worth the trip to be up so high, as you can see from this 2019 video of LSU’s band placement:
