It’s a fair question. Who the heck is this Sam Howell guy?
The short answer: He’s the starting quarterback for the Washington Commanders.
Considering that, western New York needs a lot more context than that before Sunday.
The Buffalo Bills will visit Washington to face Howell & Co. in Week 3. Even after two games, he’s probably the least well-know QB in the entire NFL.
But you’ve got to respect the guy.
Howell, 23, was a fifth-round pick in 2022 out of North Carolina. Some will argue it’s not a QB stat, but he’s 2-0. The Bills are giving him that respect, without a doubt.
“He’s really good arm strength. He can move around in the pocket, he can make plays with his legs sometimes,” safety Jordan Poyer said. “He’s going to throw the football.”
