Who could land 5-star QB Dylan Raiola? The race intensifies for USC

What is the current state of play for one of the elite QB prospects on the board?

Elilte quarterback prospect Dylan Raiola originally committed to Ohio State. Then he decommitted in December of 2022 and re-opened an intense battle for his services that includes Nebraska, USC and Georgia as the front-runners.

Rated the nation’s No. 1 overall prospect on 247Sports, Rivals, On3 and ESPN, the Arizona-based five-star signal caller is the consensus top overall prospect in America.

Georgia and Nebraska almost immediately became top contenders, while a January visit to Los Angeles propelled USC into the conversation as well.

USC football signed one of the best quarterbacks in the 2023 college football recruiting class, Malachi Nelson. I still believe that could be an obstacle for Lincoln Riley in the pursuit of Raiola.

I believe the Georgia QB job is up in the air with Brock Vandergriff and Carson Beck never starting a game. The Nebraska job is wide open, though, and he would be the projected starter on Day 1. At USC, Raiola would compete with Miller Moss and Malachi Nelson for the job, assuming Caleb Williams leaves for the NFL draft next year.

Only time will tell where the top prospect will land, but with the Cornhuskers’ bloodlines in this case (his father played for the Huskers) and new head coach Matth Rhule in charge, I would predict Nebraska as the favorite.
