It’s officially Selection Sunday. Men’s and women’s basketball programs across the country will soon learn their seed in the 2024 NCAA Tournament.
On the men’s side, reaching the tournament this year would mark the first time in over a decade that the Longhorns made four consecutive NCAA Tournaments.
Rodney Terry’s squad has had an up and down season thus far, finishing near the middle of the Big 12 Conference standings with a 20-12 overall record and going .500 in conference play.
Texas was hopeful to muster a win or two in the Big 12 Tournament to gain some momentum for the NCAA Tournament, but the Longhorns were knocked out by No. 10 Kansas State in the first round.
Still, ESPN’s Joe Lunardi believes Texas will be a No. 8 seed in the NCAA Tournament when Selection Sunday commences. In Lunardi’s latest bracketology released on Sunday morning, the Longhorns are placed in the Midwest Region. If that holds true, Texas would face No. 9 Dayton in the first round with likely No. 1 Purdue waiting in the second round.
Selection Sunday kicks off on March 17 at 5 p.m. CT on CBS.
