After a 2023 season where Penn State’s offense was underwhelming, a ranking outside the top 10 should be no surprise. Still, being the 12th overall offense, Penn State might be a bit high in real life, considering the unknowns surrounding the group. ESPN SP+ and other rating metrics show the Penn State offense and the Nittany Lions are in the top 25 unit but closer to no. 25 than the top 10.

Penn State should still be a fun offense to play, with [autotag]Drew Allar [/autotag]and two running backs, [autotag]Nick Singleton [/autotag]and [autotag]Kaytron Allen[/autotag], giving it some explosiveness.

One interesting note among the top 10 offenses is that Ohio State is ranked no. 5 by EA Sports, but advanced metrics like ESPN SP+ slot them at No. 20, just ahead of Penn State at No. 23. Yes, it is a video game and the ratings only matter for gameplay. Still, the variations are fun to look at.

While Penn State’s defense is its calling card, its offense will have to live up to its potential for the team to reach its goals this season. Based on its 87 overall rating, the team, albeit from a video game developer’s eyes, definitely has some highly rated players that, if they produce, can make it a formidable unit in 2024. The Nittany Lions are definitely one of the most well-rounded teams in the game and have the potential to be that way on the real-life gridiron.
