Where Georgia’s been ranked in every preseason USA TODAY Coaches Poll since 2000

Where UGA has started and ended the season in USA TODAY’s Coaches Poll every year since 2000:

Since 2000, the Georgia Bulldogs have been a consistent figure in the preseason USA TODAY Coaches Poll. More recently – since 2018 – UGA has been ranked inside the top-five to start the season for four consecutive years.

As for the 2022 preseason rankings, Georgia is a lock to be ranked inside the top-three, joined by Alabama and Ohio State, which will extend that streak to five years.

Here’s how the Coaches Poll is conducted:

The USA TODAY Sports AFCA football coaches poll is conducted weekly throughout the regular season using a panel of 65 head coaches at Football Bowl Subdivision schools. The panel is chosen by random draw, conference by conference plus independents, from a pool of coaches who have indicated to the American Football Coaches Association their willingness to participate. Each coach submits a Top 25 with a first-place vote worth 25 points, second place 24, and so on down to one point for 25th.
